Founded in 2015, Lapis Aviation Technologies Inc. is a defense industry company developing original Turkish technology through fully indigenous engineering in unmanned aerial vehicles, gyro-stabilized gimbal systems, and integrated ground control solutions.

Foundation

An Original Contribution to the Turkish Defense Industry

Established in Ankara in December 2015, Lapis Aviation was founded on the belief that we could deliver faster, original and indigenous solutions in unmanned systems and imaging technologies for both defense and civilian use. Our R&D center at Ankara İvedik Teknopark brings together mechanical, hardware, software and systems design engineers for rotary-wing, fixed-wing and VTOL platforms as well as 2- and 3-axis gimbal systems.

In early 2020 we brought our production facility — a 3,500 m² indoor space at Temelli AOSB — into operation. With our machining, CMM measurement, HP 5200 MJF industrial 3D printing, composite production and electronic-mechanical integration infrastructure, we carry out end-to-end domestic serial production.

Infrastructure

Ankara AOSB Production Facility

At our 3.500 m² indoor facility in Temelli AOSB, all processes from design to delivery are carried out in an integrated manner. Apart from motors, propellers, battery cells and basic electronic components, no critical component is sourced externally; all subsystems — including smart battery systems and Lapis battery charging stations — are designed and produced in-house.

Design & Engineering Center

Design of rotary-wing, fixed-wing, VTOL and gimbal systems at Ankara İvedik Teknopark. Flight, navigation, stabilization and autopilot algorithms are developed in-house and from scratch.

Machining & CMM

Production of high-tolerance critical mechanical components with comprehensive CNC machining infrastructure and CMM measurement systems. All production is carried out in-house without outsourcing.

HP 5200 MJF 3D Printing

With industrial HP 5200 Multi Jet Fusion infrastructure, outputs can be produced at both prototype and end-product quality. The development cycle is shortened considerably.

Composite & System Integration

All subsystems — including composite production, electronic-mechanical integration and smart battery systems — are designed and produced in-house.
